This catalogue is compiled from dissertation research I conducted at the University of Toronto and initially published in my dissertation, “Cultural Uses of Magic in Fifteenth-century England”. I have refined and expanded on my original research for the material I’ve uploaded here. Manuscripts are sortable according to their city, current library, category, and charm motif. There is also a search function at the bottom of this page. The motifs are not as complete as I would like simply because I have not had the chance to see every manuscript on the list in person (or in digital form as the case may be). I have also included links to other websites with detailed information on specific manuscripts, where available, such as the Digital Index of Middle English Verse, Manuscripts of the West Midlands, the Digital Image Archive of Medieval Music, digitised copies, etc.
As of February 2021 I have posted all the manuscripts that I have information on and do not plan to add anything further unless information is sent to me. If you have any questions or further information I can include please use the links on the contact page (any information provided will be credited, of course).
